Introducing Testicle Tuesday

Date: May 8, 2012

Location: Times Square, NY

The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation is proud to introduce Testicle Tuesdays: a brand new campaign designed to raise awareness of testicular cancer, encourage men to perform monthly self exams, and promote public discussion of the most common cancer in men 15 – 40.

How does it work?

It’s simple – most testicular cancers are found by men themselves. Checking your testicles monthly is the best way to identify a problem or a change that should be addressed with a physician. With our new Testicle Tuesdays campaign, we urge men to make a standing appointment to perform self exams on the second Tuesday of each month. We also encourage everyone to talk about testicular cancer and the importance of self exams on this day, to spread awareness and increase public knowledge of the disease.

What can I do?

If you’re a guy, the easiest way to get involved is by performing a testicular self exam (TSE) on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and contacting your doctor if you notice any changes or anything that concerns you. See the video for a demonstration of how to correctly perform a TSE click here.

If you’re a parent, family member or significant other – remind the men in your life to perform self exams on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Send them text message reminders, leave them voice messages, write it in their calendars. Make sure Testicle Tuesdays and TSE’s become a part of their vocabulary.

Everyone can talk, text or tweet about testicular cancer on the second Tuesday of each month. Make a video, pen a song, write an article or letter to the editor. Download our Resource Kit and deliver a group presentation. Join our College Advisory Panel and show the world that young people can have an impact. Start an event! Work the word “testicle” into a conversation! Every mention can raises awareness and makes a difference!
