Presented by PIX 11, the event features a day of golf, dinner, and live entertainment.

The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation will honor NY METS Hall of Famer, Ed Kranepool. Many sports legends, TV and Radio personalities including Rick Ackerman Ottis Anderson, Stephen Baker, Chad Cascadden, Rich Caster, Rick Cerrone, Ron Darling, Bruce Harper, Curtis McGriff, Carl Nelson, Sam Rosen, Darryl Strawberry, Gus Williams, and Perry Williams are scheduled to attend. Master of Ceremonies and WABC-TV meteorologist Bill Evans will host the awards dinner.

Every hour of every day in the United States one young man will be diagnosed with testicular cancer… If he hears “you have testicular cancer”, he needs to hear “we caught it early”. TC is the most common cancer among young men between the ages of 15 and 40, and has one of the highest cure rates of all cancers. If detected and treated early, the survival rate is over 95 percent. This year in the United States, almost 8400 young men will be diagnosed with the disease.

The Foundation was established in memory of Sean Kimerling, the Emmy Award-winning anchor of WB11 sports and pre-game announcer for the New York Mets. Sean died from testicular cancer on September 9, 2003. He was only 37. Too often, young men, like Sean, are not aware they have TC until it has spread throughout their body, greatly complicating treatment and their chances of survival.

It is critical the message on the importance of self-examination continues to be heard. To further its mission, SKTCF recently launched new innovative programs continuing to spread the message on the importance of early detection and self-examination. “Sean fought a brief, intense battle with cancer. He was unaware of his cancer until very late when severe back pain sent him to the doctor. He was a young, healthy, vibrant man, intelligent and kind … his life was cut short in its prime”, said Noah Kimerling Foundation President and Founder.

Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation Partners with UnitedHealthcare to Help Fight Testicular Cancer | Print |
The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation proudly announced today that UnitedHealthcare is the exclusive sponsor of the SKTCF shower card program.

The best time to perform the self-exam is during or immediately after a warm shower or bath since the warm water relaxes the skin. To help spread the message facilitating young men to learn the importance of TSE, the foundation has a shower card available for distribution. The cards are a reminder of testicular cancer information and how to self-exam. The cards are available through the foundation’s website. Easy to understand, the shower card provides simple step-by-step instructions to performing a testicular self-examination. Important information for use, when attempting to reduce ones own risk, educate a friend, or loved one.
